Speed, Distance & Time Calculator

A universal physics and travel calculator. Solve for speed (given distance and time), time (given distance and speed), or distance (given speed and time). Supports km, miles, metres, km/h, mph, and m/s.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the speed, distance, time formula?+

The fundamental relationship: Speed = Distance ÷ Time. Rearranging: Distance = Speed × Time, and Time = Distance ÷ Speed. Ensure you use consistent units — if speed is in km/h, distance should be in km and time in hours.

How do I convert km/h to m/s?+

Divide by 3.6. So 90 km/h = 90 ÷ 3.6 = 25 m/s. To convert m/s back to km/h, multiply by 3.6. This conversion is important in physics problems where SI units (m/s) are required.

How do I calculate average speed for a trip with stops?+

Average speed = Total distance ÷ Total time (including stops). If you drove 200 km in 2 hours, stopped for 30 minutes, then drove 100 km in 1 hour — total 300 km in 3.5 hours — average speed is 300 ÷ 3.5 ≈ 85.7 km/h.
