Running Pace Calculator
A versatile pace calculator for runners and cyclists. Find your pace from distance and time, predict finish times for 5K/10K/half-marathon/marathon at your current pace, or calculate how far you can go in a given time at a target pace.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good running pace for beginners?+
A comfortable conversational pace for most beginners is 7–9 minutes per km (approx. 7–8.5 km/h). The "talk test" is the best guide: you should be able to say a few sentences without gasping. As fitness improves, pace will naturally drop over weeks of consistent training.
How do I pace myself for a half marathon?+
Run the first half slightly slower than your goal pace (negative split strategy). If your goal is a 2-hour half marathon, aim for 5:45–5:50/km for the first 10K and 5:40/km for the final 11K. Avoid going out too fast — it's the most common mistake in racing.
How do I convert pace to speed?+
Speed (km/h) = 60 ÷ pace (min/km). A 6:00/km pace is 60 ÷ 6 = 10 km/h. A 5:00/km pace is 12 km/h. This calculator shows both automatically.
